Step 1
To create long-lasting, vivid colour, start by priming the eyelids, For this, you can either use an eye primer, or your usual matt foundation. Smooth a single layer across the eyelid and blend.
Step 2
Take your chosen eye shadow (a bright, pigment -rich purple) and load the colour onto a sponge-tip applicator. Apply the shadow in three separate dots, an equal distance apart, across the upper lash line- this ensures the colour is evenly distributed.

Step 3
Do the same along the lower lash line: use the end of the sponge-tip applicator to make three slightly smaller dots. Sweep away any fallen particles with a big, round face brush loaded with translucent powder.

Step 4
Using the clean side of the sponge-tip applicator, lightly bend the colour startingfrom the inner eye, joining the dots along the upper lash line and drawing the colour outwards to form a gentle flick. Repeat on the lower lash line.

Step 5
Apply a small amount of pale yellow or gold eye shadow to the tear-duct area to highlight the eyes and give a modern edge to the look.

Step 6
If the eye shadow is to be worn in the evening, you can increase its impact by lining the lower inner rim of the lash line with a dark grey or soft black kohl pencil. Finish with a coat of mascara on the upper lashes, but don’t clog them, as the focus should be on the vibrancy of the purple.
